Top five places to visit in South East Asia

Here are my top five favourite places I visited on my trip through South East Asia. Hopefully this help those traveling in that area to discover some amazing places worth visiting during their trip.

  1. My number one favourite place to visit was Hoi An, in Vietnam.Hoi An is full of stunning, historical architecture and colourful lanterns that light up the whole city. They are everywhere. In the sky, in the water, and in the streets. It is the only place I have ever been that I would describe as magical. The night life is full of parades and shows down the cute crammed streets, and quirky bars with live music.

2. Bangkok, Thailand. People say it is like marmite. You love it or you hate it, and I absolutely loved it. It is such a culture shock. But that is exactly why I go travelling. To see things that are so unusual I can’t possibly wrap my head around it.

Whilst you’re in Bangkok there are a few things you have to do:

Ride a Tuk Tuk (picture on the right)
Shop in the night markets!
Shop in the MBK shopping centre! (A must).

3.Koh Tao, Thailand. Paradise at day, Party at night – is how I would sum up the beautiful Island of Koh Tao. This is the perfect traveler destination, full of exotic hostels, beach bars, and quirky clubs.

There are a variation of fun activities to do on the island such as, paddle boarding, snorkeling and scuba diving.

4. Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This is the most cultural city I visited. Cambodia is an extremely poor country, with extremely friendly people, but in Phnom Penh poverty was everywhere you looked. Seeing people live this way deeply affected me and I think it would teach anyone a valuable life lesson to visit this place.

Places to see in Phnom Penh.

The first is ‘The Killing fields’.  A place of torture, and the burial grounds of the Cambodian Civil war. A sad but memorable experience.

The second was Phnom Penh’s animal sanctuary where you get to feed the monkey’s and elephants!

5. Mairood Resort, Thailand. A small Thai fishing village, and definitely a place worth seeing. Here you can experience beautiful, serene Thai beaches, where you will be the only travellers there.

Please comment any question about South East Asia, or any requests for future posts.
